This weekend I was priviledged to witness my beautiful daughter give birth to my first Grandson. How do I even start to express how happy and proud I am. My daughter was amazing during labour, seriously she was phenomenal. Even though I'v been through labour myself all be it many many years ago it was quite an eye opener listening to all the screaming and noise going on from the many labour rooms in the Delivery suite. Ellie was so funny with the Gas and Air which she loved and from the minute she was given it, she held a tight, firm grip on that mouthpiece. She also took up the offer of pethadine and even a very late epidural (which to be honest I don't think did alot because it was given too close to the time of birth which came on very quickly) I won't go into the ins and outs of the actual labour as that is obviously private to her and she may blog about that herself so if she does I will post a link to it. Anyway as a mother watching your daughter give birth it can be quite traumatic because you don't like to see your own precious child in pain and I was obviously very worried about her. I had no cause at all for concern because when the time came for home run, she was totally ready for it. The midwife team were fantastic my thanks go out to the East Surrey midwifery team especially the head Midwife who was on duty thant night. Louise we will remember you forever and thank you for bringing our Dylan into the world. When he arrived he was put straight onto his Mummys chest and thats where he stayed for the next hour or two. This is one emotional nanny.
